MATTHIAS TIMM

After studying law at the University of Hamburg with an elective focus on social law with employment law references, Matthias Timm completed his legal clerkship in Hamburg, including at the Hamburg State Labour Court and a law firm specializing in employment law. Matthias Timm has been supporting our law firm in all matters of individual and collective labor law since 2014 and has advised and represented employees, executives as well as larger and smaller companies up to multinational corporations during this time.

In addition to providing ongoing advice to companies on all day-to-day employment law issues, including support and assistance in negotiations with works councils, Mr. Timm also advises on reorganizations and restructurings. Mr. Timm accompanies these from the conception and information stage through negotiations with employee representatives to notification proceedings in accordance with Section 17 of the Dismissal Protection Act and any subsequent individual legal disputes. Mr. Timm also provides employment law advice in acquisition processes and advises on the consequences and effects of transfers of undertakings. Mr. Timm advises companies and employees on issues of collective bargaining law (interpretation of collective bargaining agreements, claims arising from collective bargaining agreements).

He specializes in:

  • the drafting, preparation and modernization of service, employment and termination agreements as well as other contracts and agreements relating to employment law;
  • in advising on and assisting in the negotiation of works agreements;
  • in representing and assisting in resolution proceedings on social and personnel matters under collective law;
  • in conciliation committee proceedings as an assessor or counsel;
  • in advising and representing in individual contractual disputes (e.g. protection against dismissal, dismissal and termination of employment contracts);
  • in advising and representing clients in individual contractual disputes (e.g. protection against dismissal, fixed-term contracts, parental leave, part-time work);
  • in advising and supporting companies in restructuring and transactions;
  • in supporting and advising on consultation and notification procedures pursuant to Section 17 KSchG;
  • equal treatment (AGG) in the workplace and company
